Right Wing Assembly

Setting the jig

Well, here we go again.  I am hoping the right wing will go faster.

The root end of the wing will be on the opposite side of the jig, so that the bottom faces towards the front of the garage.  I began by resetting the guide wire.  It’s simply a piece of .032 stainless wire pulled tight across the top of the fixture.  It is from this wire that all measurements are made.  It’s a simple way to make sure the main and rear spars are perfectly aligned.

I used a water level to set the ends of the wire.  I also came up with a simple tensioner which I hope will work as good as just using weight.  For the left wing, I just weighted the end of the wire with whatever I could find…a jackstand, sledge hammer head, etc.  I am trying to class things up a bit with the tensioner.

Nice and tight.

got the wire reset and ready for the right wing.

The spars mount to this piece of bar stock which perfectly spaces and aligns the root end of the main and rear spar.
